WELCOME TO HMS DUCHESS WEB PAGE Hi, welcome, please enjoy your visit to our web site. The site has been set up to formulate information from the past whem HMS Duches was in Commission and present exploits of Association Members. HMS Duchess Association was founded on the 9th November of 1996, after some stirling work by our founder chairman Shipmate Gordon Phipps. Gordon worked tirelessly at making contact with shipmates from the 50's and start of the 60's, around seventy shipmates responded. After more spade work Gordon went on to arrange a reunion week end in November 1996 at the Stretton Hotel, Blackpool,with the attendence of thirty six shipmates plus their ladies. The association was duly founded at the first meeting held on the 9th November. Founding Committee:- President:- S/M Murray Scrimgeour. Chairman:- S/M Gordon Phipps. Hon Secretary:- S/M Doug Phillips. Hon Treasurer:- S/M Trevor Morris. Committee Members:- S/M's Geoffery Kember & Tony Spencer. We have held an AGM Reunion each year since 96 in different parts of the Country, the Midlands, North and the South. There's also been a mini reunion arranged for a number of years, which included venue's in Malta and Spain, last year 2011 this was held in October in the Lake District, arrangements for this are now in the hands of S/M Doug Phillips lady Sue. A ships newsletter has been produced once or twice a year to bring back old memories and to keep us all in touch. So while you are browsing this if you have any material or photographs relating to HMS Duchess in the 50's & 60's our newsletter editor will be glad to receive them, this would help with future editions.
